RESIDENTS in the Orford area are being warned not to leave valuable items on show to potential criminals.
This comes after police were notified of an attempted burglary which took place on Whittaker Avenue on Friday night, December 2.
Thankfully, the offender did not gain entry to the property and no items were taken, however residents are being asked to not make homes desirable to thieves.
This includes ‘advertising’ Christmas presents by leaving packaging on the roadside, which could lead to houses being burgled.
In an update, the force’s Poplars and Hulme Police team said: “There has been a report of a burglary in the area of Whittaker Avenue, which occurred between Friday, December 2, and Saturday, December 3.
“Access was not gained and no items were taken, however please ensure you keep everything out of sight and locked away, especially now we are in the Christmas season.
“Also, be mindful of throwing your empty packaging away from Christmas presents, as this will advertise what you have in your home.
“Why not get together with your neighbours and make a street WhatsApp or Facebook group so that you can all look out for each other.”
