WARRINGTON has been ranked among the top 20 per cent of towns and cities in England to live in.
The latest data comes from Rightmove's 'Happy at Home' annual survey.
Warrington has been ranked the 22nd happiest place to live in the north west, and places 181st nationally.
According to VisitNorthWest, there are 60 towns and cities in the region, which places Warrington in the top 36 per cent of places to live in the north west.
However, according to Twinkl, there are 986 towns and cities across England, which means that because Warrington came in at 181, it is in the top 20 per cent of all places to live in the country.
Warrington's position in the north west's ranking beat areas such as Wigan and Liverpool, with neighbouring St Helens not even making it into the top 25 happiest places in the north west.
Coming in as the happiest place in the north west was Northwich, followed by Altrincham and Macclesfield.
Chester placed fourth in the north west, with Crewe rounding out the top 10 in the region.
This year's survey was the 11th annual survey conducted by Rightmove, and surveyed more than 11,000 people how they feel about where they live.
Rightmove said: "The results show that having a sense of belonging to your local area is the most important contributor towards happiness, along with having a strong sense of community, and polite and friendly residents."
St Ives in Cornwall has been voted the happiest area to live 2022! 🎉

Every year we ask people in Great Britain to tell us how they feel about where they live, what they love about their local areas, and what makes a place really feel like home. 🏡https://t.co/vu2fOnIxSp
Clinching the top UK spot was St Ives in Cornwall - Galashiels in the Scottish Borders took second place, and the market town of Woodbridge in Suffolk in third.
No places in the north west reached the national top 10 spots, however - the north west's happiest place, Northwich, placed 16th in the UK.
The north west's top 25 happiest places list is as follows:
- Northwich
- Altrincham
- Macclesfield
- Chester
- Kendal
- Carlisle
- Southport
- Wirral
- Stockport
- Crewe
- Bury
- Oldham
- Salford
- Manchester
- Lancaster
- Preston
- Rochdale
- Blackburn
- Chorley
- Burnley
- Blackpool
- Warrington
- Wigan
- Liverpool
- Bolton
Well, Warrington might not have been the happiest place to live in the north west, but we've beaten Wigan, St Helens and Liverpool - if that can't make you happy, I don't know what will.
