DAVID Gill has got among the medals again.
The Warrington Athletics Club runner contested the British Masters 10 Mile Road Race Championships in Gravesend, Kent, where he finished 35th overall in 1hr 5mins 51secs.
This won the former tug o'war world champion the silver medal in the over 65s age group.
It followed up his appearance a week earlier at the Preston 10 miles road race, which also doubled up as the Northern Road Race Championships and Fire Service Championship.
Retired fireman Gill posted 64mins 14secs to finish 51st overall but won the Northern title in the over 65s age group. He crossed the line second in the Fire Service Championships.
Meanwhile, 10 Warrington Athletics Club runners took part in the British Athletics Cross Challenge at a muddy Sefton Park in Liverpool.
The event incorporated the trials for the European Cross Country Championships for those competing from under 20s to senior level.
In the under 15s girls’ race, Imogen Wharton followed her fourth place in the previous Cross Challenge by taking fifth spot in 10mins 51secs, while Esme Heavey also ran well to finish 18 in 11mins 21secs and Sarah Ashcroft was 84th in 13mins 11secs.
Jack Marwood was 14th in 10mins 09secs in the boys’ race at the same age.
Women’s under 17s participant Lucie Davies placed 36th in 17mins 42secs, while in the women’s under 20s race Orla Gregory crossed the line 34th in 16mins 35secs. Her sister Siobhan was 71st in 18mins 33secs and Ellen Turnbull 79th in 19mins 33secs.
In the senior men’s race, Jordan Jones was 114th in 33mins 49secs while Dave Watson was 402nd in 42mins 42secs placing him 13th in the over 50s age group.
Two Warrington AC runners took part in the Wilmslow Festive 10k Road Race, with Claire Andrew finishing 277th overall in 38mins 55secs and Louise Blizzard placed 402nd in 41mins 15secs.
That placed them in 24th and 48th places in the women’s race, with Andrew sixth over 40s woman and Blizzard seventh over 45s woman.
Over at the Meerbrook 15k a week earlier, Blizzard won a team silver medal while representing Cheshire in an inter-county match.
