ROWSWOOD Outdoor Living has only been in business for a few months but the three men at the top are already carving out a name for themselves.
Joining forces with the already successful Rowswood Timber, the new business provides outdoor products for patios and outdoor spaces, which enables them to offer customers and clients the complete outdoor living package.
Here, Jake Ditchfield tells us why he opened the business with fellow owners and directors Stuart Tudor and Scott Brierley and what the new year holds for the fledgling company.
What’s the name of the business?
Rowswood Outdoor Living Limited
What’s the address?
Pilmoss Barns, Hatton Lane, Hatton, Warrington, WA4 4DA
Are you the owner/manager?
We are all co-owners and directors
When did you open the business?
We officially launched the new showroom in September this year
Has it always been in the same location?
Yes, based at the long established Rowswood Timber site in Hatton.
Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?
All three of us are local lads. We grew up in Warrington and went to the same school. I grew up in Stretton, Scott is from Appleton and Stuart is from Grappenhall.
Tell me a bit about your business
Rowswood Timber have built long established relationships with landscapers and other clients over the last few years and there was a high demand for Rowswood Outdoor Living. With so many new houses and developments in Warrington and the nearby motorway links, the site has become exceptionally busy with both retail and trade customers.

What do you do? What services do you provide?
We specialise in outdoor porcelain. We have a vast knowledge and supplier base with leading European manufacturers of premium products in the industry. We stock all the consumable items that are needed when laying a patio including spacers, slurry mixes, grout and more. The combination of the natural tones of the timber and porcelain pavers create a perfect area for relaxing in your garden.
Why did you decide to open your own business?
I have dreamt of owning my own business since I was young. Scott and Stuart are both established businessmen in their own rights. Scott heads up the team at Rowswood Timber with Stuart, who also runs a successful CCTV business, Tudor CCTV. The business knowledge from Scott and Stuart combined with the industry knowledge I bring, makes for a great team.
What’s your business background?
Scott and Stuart both own Rowswood Timber as a joint venture. I’ve worked in the tile industry for almost 14 years managing multiple bathroom showrooms.
Why this type of business?
We found that our trade customer base helped with growing the business from the start. We have strong relationships with some of the largest landscaping teams in the north west. The outdoor products fit perfectly with the timber business, helping us cover all aspects of outdoor living.
Were you open before/during/after the Covid-19 pandemic? How did this affect your business?
Rowswood Outdoor Living was established after the Covid-19 pandemic. We have learnt from our own experiences over the last few years and worked hard to develop a website for customers to peruse in their own time, in the safety of their own home, before visiting our showroom.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
We supply premium products and first class customer service. Rowswood Outdoor Living only uses suppliers who provide the highest quality materials and we offer free local and nationwide delivery.
Why do loyal customers return to your business?
Our customer service levels make us a cut above the rest. We have built a reputation with our landscapers and customers and we are always available to take a call, offer advice or just enjoy a coffee and a catch up. Our stock levels on our consumable items are high and we provide the finest quality timber through our sister company Rowswood Timber. This allows us to offer the full package. We have recently taken stock from a local supplier for aggregates including MOT, sand, soil and decorative stone, either in bulk bags or loose dropped for larger quantities.
What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your business?
With an exciting start to next year planned and some substantial jobs in the pipeline, we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead. We are taking some drone footage of our larger projects and we also plan on taking on an experienced sales manager to help us with the influx of customers in our luxury showroom.
