A SWORD was seized by police after suspicious activity was flagged by the Border Agency.
Cheshire Police says it received intelligence from the agency regarding the importation of weaponry at an airport.
Officers visited an address in the south Warrington area, where a man was issued with a warning notice regarding importing knives.
While at the address, a sword was seized and will be destroyed.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “After receiving intelligence from the Border Agency, officers visited an address in Warrington in relation to the importation of knives.
“The man was issued with a warning notice in relation to the attempted importation.
“A sword was also seized from the address.”
The force’s Grappenhall and Thelwall Police team added: “As part of Operation Sceptre knife awareness week, and following intel from the Border Agency, a male who was suspected of importing a prohibited weapon was visited by local beat team officers.
“A separate sword was surrendered from the address and will now be destroyed.”
