A CAR was written off and four others were damaged following a crash in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday.
Police attended the scene of the road traffic collision on Goldcliff Close in Callands, where a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Officers say the driver had only recently passed his driving test, while a woman was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
Cheshire Police has warned people not to drive home after drinking in the pub while watching England games over the coming days and weeks.
In a statement, the force’s Warrington Police team said: “Officers were called to Burtonwood to reports of a road traffic collision.
“Upon our attendance, a male driver, who has had a licence for less than a month, had managed to crash into four parked cars. It was not a shock to officers when he blew 91 at the roadside.
“The male managed to write off his own car, which he had owned for two days, caused damage to residents’ cars and will likely lose his licence.
“Driving home after spending the evening in the pub watching England is not worth the risk to you or other road users.
“The male’s girlfriend disagreed that he should be arrested and decided to kick up a fuss.
“She was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly after she continued to shout and swear in the street.”
A spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At 12.10am this morning, Wednesday, November 30, police were called to reports of a damage only collision on Goldcliff Close, Warrington.
“Officers attended and found a white Seat Ibiza had collided with four parked cars.
“The driver of the Seat, an 18-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in police custody at this time.
“A passenger from the car, an 18-year-old woman, was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. She has since been issued with a community resolution order.”
