A BOY is in hospital in a ‘critical’ condition following a serious assault in the town centre.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on Bridge Street, close to McDonalds.
The victim, aged 17, was rushed to Aintree Hospital shortly after 3am, where he remains.
Cheshire Police has confirmed that a 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent in connection with the incident.
A spokesman for the force said: “At 3.05am on Sunday, November 27, police were called following a serious assault on Bridge Street, Warrington.
“Officers attended and found a 17-year-old local boy had been seriously assaulted near to McDonalds.
“The boy was taken to Aintree Hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition.
“A 17-year-old boy from Warrington was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, in connection with the incident; he has since been released on conditional bail.”
