IF you are up for an eating challenge, look no further than a popular town centre eatery.
Café at the End of the Universe, based at Warrington Market, is offering a 42-item food challenge.
Inspired by the TV show Man v. Food, contenders will have to finish the challenge within 30 minutes.
The challenge includes:
- 1 bacon double cheeseburger
- 1 K9 hot dog
- 1 large fries
- 3 corn dogs
- 6 jalapeno poppers
- 10 onion rings
- 10 boneless BBQ wings
- 10 boneless chipotle wings
It costs £30 and includes a drink and a £5 donation will be made to Warrington Foodbank for every attempt.
Successful contenders will receive £30 in vouchers and a place on the business’ wall of fame.
Talking to the Warrington Guardian about the challenge, owner Andy Kinsella said: “We used to love the programme Man v. Food and on a road trip in the US we managed to get to six places featured on the show.
“We thought it would be a bit of fun to do our own version a few years back.
“We were lucky enough to get the UK’s number one competitive eater to do it.
“They smashed it in 13 minutes and the video got one million views.”
Since announcing the return of the challenge, there has already been a lot of interest.
Andy added: “There is always so much interest in it every time we mention it.
“I think because people seem to think it's not that much until you place a full tray of food down in front of them and they realise why it's called a challenge.
“We would like to clarify it's just a bit of fun.
“I know in these tough times a few people might think it's a bit crass to overindulge when people are struggling with costs - however we do believe people should still be able to enjoy themselves and we decided to make a donation to the local foodbank every time someone attempts it, so at least some good comes of it.”
The café is currently taking bookings for the next three Thursdays until December 15.
A maximum of two people can complete the challenge at the same time.
