A TALENTED eight-year-old has been the talk of her classroom after landing a main role in a local Christmas advert.

With a love for singing and dancing, Anastasia Lockett, joined First Act acting school in Warrington town centre in September.

After only four sessions, Anastasia had impressed her teachers so much that they put her forward for an audition in a shopping centre's Christmas advert.

Despite this being her first audition, the eight-year-old secured a lead role in the Golden Square Shopping Centre advert.

Titled the 'True Spirit of Christmas', the advert follows a wrapped-up Anastasia, from Thatto Heath in St Helens, witnessing the numerous good deeds happening in the shopping centre.

After losing her beloved teddy at the start of the video, the acts of kindness encourage her to pass it on to another girl who finds the bear in a Christmas toy appeal, who is played by her friend Sophia.

Showing a range of emotions, Anastasia's performance has been celebrated by her teachers and classmates at St Anne's Primary School in Rainhill, and even played in her assembly.

With the advert available to watch online, it has also made her parents "proud as punch", her dad Mark said.

Mark, 50, said: "Anastasia is over the moon with the Christmas advert and she is just made up to see her face on TV.

"I knew that she would be great so I just try to push her a little out of her comfort zone to bring out her confidence.

"She's a lovely sweet girl and me and her mum are proud as punch."

With Anastasia spending much of her time singing, dancing, and even writing her own small scripts, the advert has given her extra fuel to follow her dream of becoming an actor or performer. 

She has also been picked up by Ludovico production company, which can push the young actress for further acting roles and performances.
