WARRINGTON Wolves' promising stand-off Riley Dean will again be building his match experience in the Betfred Championship next year.

The Wire have agreed a deal for him to go on a season-long loan to regular title contenders Featherstone Rovers.

Dean spent time with Newcastle Thunder in the second half of last season, as well as York City Knights and Dewsbury Rams in 2021.

He will continue to train full-time with Wolves' first team squad and head coach Daryl Powell will have a two-week recall option should Riley be needed in primrose and blue at some stage of the season.

This move comes hot on the heels of the club's England Knights back rower Ellis Longstaff going out on loan for the 2023 season to Salford Red Devils.

Dean made six appearances in the top flight for Warrington this year, but his loan periods came on the back of Powell feeling that he was probably not yet ready for week-to-week action at the Super League elite level.

He scored a try on his last Wire appearance which came in the 24-18 loss at Leeds on August 19.

Probably his best Super League performance to date was when he assisted four tries during the 32-10 win over Huddersfield Giants on April 23.

The six-footer, a member of Elland's Brooksbank School team that won the national boys' year 11 title in 2017, made his first-team Wire debut two years later against St Helens.

He was named captain of the Academy side in 2020 but their season had to be abandoned because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dean's CV also shows him playing for the Siddal club in his hometown of Halifax before turning professional.
