A MAGICAL festive trail has opened at Walton Hall – giving visitors the chance to explore one of Warrington's most famous landmarks in a whole new light.
For the second year, Luminate has taken residence in the gardens with the light and sound trail running every day from today, Thursday, until Christmas Eve.
And the Warrington Guardian was given the chance to have a first look at the attraction.
While the streets may be darker than usual this Christmas due to the cost of energy, Walton Gardens comes alive at night.
Lights festoon the paths around the popular beauty spot with several installations for visitors to enjoy along the way.
Some return from last year such as the talking tree and the tiny fairies in bird cages.
But there are plenty of new ones to enjoy too.
Try your hand at drumming to being a rabbit to life on a large screen.
While you can also guide the huge lanterns across the grass with the help of joysticks.
And illuminated stepping stones are sure to entertain the younger visitors.
There are also lots of festive notes to enjoy.
Toast a marshmallow, sup on some mulled wine or enjoy a festive sausage or dessert.
While the sight of the 19th century hall being illuminated with scenes of Santa and presents is well worth staying for a few minutes.
The walk takes around an hour, or longer if you stop for a bite to eat or have little ones.
Tickets are on sale now and are £48 for a family Monday to Wednesday until December 7 and £62 for a family from Thursday to Sunday and every day from December 12.
