A MAJOR road in Warrington will close this weekend as part of the work for the nearby Parkside development.
Winwick Lane will close from its junction with the M6 junction 22 to its junction with Sandy Brow Lane from 7pm on Friday to 6am on Monday.
The closure is required to allow for the installation of ducting and drainage works associated with the Parkside development.
The alternative route will be via Newton Road, Southworth Road, Mill Lane, Winwick Road, Newton Road, Winwick Link Road and vice versa.
The construction of the Parkside link road is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 – with no delays currently expected.
But St Helens Council says it will only be fully opened to through traffic in summer the following year.
Work on the new link road, which has been tipped to unlock the ‘full economic potential’ of the huge Parkside development in Newton-le-Willows, started earlier this year.
The link road will comprise a new direct access from junction 22 of the M6 motorway into the former Parkside Colliery site.
