IF you are looking for the perfect Christmas gift for cooking enthusiasts this year then we may have done the hard work for you.
Warrington-based charity, Creating Adventures, have announced that members of their cooking group, many of whom are adults with autism and additional needs are releasing a cookbook in December featuring a collection of their favourite recipes.
The idea for the book, titled ‘Recipe for Success’, originated after the cooking classes were formed during lockdown over zoom to keep isolated members of the charity ‘socialising’ and ‘having fun’.
And with enthusiasm and confidence growing for the skill, the sessions were moved to face to face classes in a kitchen, taught by activity leader Barbara Freeman from Fresh Beginnings CIC.
The charity has worked in partnership with national food suppliers, Greencore Warrington, to produce the ‘memoir’ which will be on sale for £10 next month and will showcase all the members hard work.
Each of the ten chefs in the group has a dedicated page featuring their favourite main meal and dessert that they have made during the cooking sessions, with classics like carbonara and cheesecake buried within its culinary pages.
Founder of the charity, Jenny Allcock said: “We are absolutely thrilled to launch the ‘Recipes for Success’ cookbook giving our members the opportunity to shine and showcase their culinary creativity and talents.
“Our cookery group members have been creating amazing meals each week and it only seemed right that we created a cookbook.
“If James Martin and Mary Berry can sell a cookbook, why can’t our master chefs be given the same opportunity? We are truly thankful for the support from Greencore which has made this book possible.
“Working with a local company who is as passionate about creating scrumptious food as we are, then it seemed to be a perfect match.”
Money raised from sales of the book will go towards elevating the cooking sessions for its talented members.
Creating Adventures charity said: “The members, staff and volunteers that have worked hard on this project hope the community support, enjoy and share their new cookbook by ordering in December when it is available.”
