CULCHETH will be getting into the festive spirit this weekend with the annual Christmas markets.

But they won’t be held in the usual place in the centre of the village this year following Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council’s decision to cancel the event.

Instead, Partridge Lakes Fishery on Glaziers Lane will be spreading festive cheer, hosting stallholders and welcoming customers this Saturday, November 26.

Earlier this month, Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council announced that the event was cancelled “due to circumstances way beyond [their] control”.

Partridge Lakes Fishery offered to hold the Christmas markets giving first refusal to stallholders already signed up for the parish council event.

Danielle Parker, events co-ordinator at Partridge Lakes Fishery, said: “Everyone was so disappointed when Culcheth Christmas Market was cancelled.

“We usually have our own Christmas market but haven’t managed to source some sides for our stretch tent so hadn’t organised one this year but we wanted to reach out and offer to hold the market here at Partridge Lakes.

“We know how much planning and preparation goes into making and baking for something like this for stallholders and we didn’t want people’s efforts to go to waste.

“There will be lots of Christmas music and our Bar In A Box with be serving mulled wine and Christmas cocktails.

“It promises to be a fantastic community event.”

Some of the stallholders who will be greeting visitors to Partridge Lakes between 11am and 3.30pm this Saturday include White Lace Bakery, Country Horse Shoes, Heart Felt Gifts and Boho & Bloom.

Carol singing as well as the switching on of the village Christmas lights will still take place at 4.15pm at Culcheth’s Millennium Garden, on the junction between Common Lane and Warrington Road.
