A DRIVER had to be freed from their vehicle by firefighters following a crash on the motorway in the early hours of yesterday morning. Sunday.
Three fire engines from Warrington, Lymm and Runcorn fire stations rushed to the M56 at 5.49am after receiving reports of the collision.
The vehicle is believed to have left the eastbound carriageway between junctions nine for the M6 at Lymm Interchange and 10 for Stretton.
On arrival at the scene, crews found that a driver was physically trapped in their vehicle following a road traffic collision.
Firefighters had to remove a tree stump to be able to get to the driver side door to remove it. The vehicle was stabilised as this work was going on.
The driver was then able to get out of the vehicle and was assessed by paramedics.
