AN inquest has been opened into the tragic death of a ‘happy and generous’ young man.

Mark Lawrence, from Latchford, died aged 27 after being hit by a car on Chester Road in Warrington on October 2.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Warrington Coroner’s Court formally opened an inquest into his death which heard how Mark was taken to The Walton Centre in Liverpool after the incident by sadly died on October 23.

A full inquest date was set for April next year.

Following Mark’s death last month, his parents and brother paid tribute to the generous and happy young man.

In a joint statement, they said: “The tragic loss of Mark so early in his life is devastating and has left an unfillable hole in our family.

“It is unfair that such a happy, generous, and active young man has been lost.

“Mark’s loss will be felt by so many beyond his immediate family, who loved and respected him, including his grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins in both England and the Philippines, and countless friends from England and around the world who have supported his family through this difficult time.”

The driver of the car32-year-old man from Runcorn, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured footage that may be relevant to come forward.
