A MUM from Burtonwood has praised the local community for 'restoring' her faith in humanity.
Arabela Lukacs was returning from a holiday at the beginning of November when one of a parent's worst nightmares came true.
She found that her family's luggage had not been returned on the conveyor belt, meaning they had lost their clothes - and more importantly, essential items for her baby.
Arabela said that because her four-month-old baby - Casstiel Daniel - is growing so quickly, she doesn't buy him lots of clothes because he quickly outgrows everything.
However, because of her lost luggage, she had barely any clothes left for her baby - she said: "I felt heartbroken and started to cry. I know all my baby's clothes, his travel cot along with gifts he has received from my family have been lost.
"All we had for the baby was the clothes he was wearing and two extra pyjamas and that had to get me through the way from Luton Airport to Warrington and through the next day when we got a chance to go and buy him something."
Arabela then found that her community in Burtonwood had pulled together to support her family by donating baby clothes, nappies, and almost £200 in vouchers to help her family through this time.
The Burtonwood mum volunteers for the 'community bus' service - which helps deliver support to the local area - and while setting out the days she would volunteer on, she also told the organisers of the bus about her situation.
Arabela said: "Little did I know that this amazing person would start fundraising for us.
"In five, days people that I've never met showed their kindness towards my family and when the lady texted me on Saturday morning to tell me what she has done for me I was speechless and crying again - only now it was tears of joy."
The Burtonwood mum added: "I've never met such amazing people in my life and I can honestly say that my faith in humanity has been restored.
"The work that the community does is something you don't see nowadays and I would like that to be made public - I believe it's important to spread kindness and help others in need."
