AN accomplished musician has released a new single offering comfort to anyone feeling down.
Acoustic singer-songwriter Sam Lyon’s new song ‘The Calm Within The Storm’ has already struck a chord with loyal fans.
“The song was written about a friend who was going through a difficult time,” said Sam, 27, from Cheshire, who performs at Knutsford Music Festival and renowned music venues across the UK.
“It is a very precious and emotional song which I think will resonate with a lot of people.
“There is a heart-warming message of love, care and calm, offering an uplifting positive outlook.
“Accepting that you can feel low today but peace can be found in how you’re coping with it.
“I sent the song to my friend when I’d first written it during lockdown., “She was over the moon and absolutely loved it.”
Prolific performer Sam averages around 300 shows every year.
She has completed three UK tours, headlined festivals around the country and won international recognition.
The award-winning soloist was named ‘Performer of the Year’ when she was only 18.
Sam has developed her own niche brand after becoming a full-time musician in 2016.
“It’s a really lovely job being able to turn your hobby and passion into something that supports you financially,” said the unsigned artist.
“I cherish my independence. It is hard work but I have built up a good reputation and regular work with a lot of clients.
“I have a little team of people around me. I can delegate work and know it is going to be done well, to my standards.
“Fame, fortune and glamour isn’t as appealing as when you’re younger.
“I work at my own pace and make things I am happy with and always try to keep my audience happy.
“I don’t have to have an image I’ve got to live up to and dress in a certain way.”
Sam is keen to reach out and help people improve their mental health and wellbeing.
She is launching a new weekly podcast, The Calm Within The Storm, inspired by her new single.
A different guest speaker will feature in each episode.
“We will focus on relatable topics such as parenthood, overworking and hitting burnout, therapy and seeking professional help, our relationship with social media, living and working with a diagnosis,” she said.
Sam has shared her own journey through bereavement after her dad, John, 64, died suddenly during lockdown.
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through,” said Sam.
“Hopefully, this podcast will help people if they’re struggling with something at the moment or in the past.”
Musician Marc Gallagher will launch the series on November 18.
Sam plans to release a new album in the New Year.
“I’m hoping to do another UK tour and gigs abroad,” said Sam, whose lyrics are inspired by her own personal experiences.
“When I write something about my experiences it is nice that other people can resonate with their experiences.
"I am really excited about the new single. People don't realise how long the process is of making a song.
"It is nice to finally get it out to the world."
Sam will be performing at The Stanneylands, Winsford on Sunday, November 13, The Hart of Hartford on Saturday, November 26, The Bubble Room, Alderley Edge on Friday, December 2, The Tea Room, Knutsford on Friday, December 9 and The Hart of Hartford on Wednesday, December 21.
