CHAPELFORD teenager Natasha Gayter has been recognised for her positive impact on members of Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club.

The 17-year-old former Great Sankey High School student has received the 2022 Inspirational Young Volunteer Engagement Award, which was presented at the Cheshire County Water Polo and Swimming Association annual meeting.

Natasha, a lifeguard for Livewire at the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub, was put forward for the award by the Warriors club and had competition from other committed volunteers from across Cheshire.

In the nomination process, Warriors officials highlighted the Cronton Sixth Form College A level student's 'passion and enthusiasm' for the supporting role she plays which is highly valued by all at the club.

Natasha, who started assisting younger swimmers as part of her Duke of Edinburgh volunteering at the age of 14 but first started swimming with the club aged eight, is appreciated for her coaching and guidance by newcomers and experienced swimmers alike, in both training sessions and internal or external meets.

That includes supporting swimmers at their first galas to understand the process, ease any race anxieties and be a familiar friendly face.

"Natasha approaches every session she supports with a smile, reassurance and support to help all swimmers achieve," says the nomination form.

"At every possible turn Natasha is on hand to offer guidance and help swimmers gain confidence while enjoying their swimming experiences.

"Along with having a positive impact on swimmers in the pool, Natasha has also shown other older swimmers how they can help support, which has started an influx of others starting to give back and support the club as they can see the positive impact this has had."
