CHESHIRE Police has issued an update in relation to an incident which saw a large emergency service presence deployed in Chapelford.

A number of police cars were reported in the area of Portland Road yesterday evening, Wednesday, as well as armed officers and a police helicopter.

Portland Road was closed 'as a precaution' at around 4pm, with some residents told that they ‘could not go home'.

One resident also said they have been told by police to 'go inside for their own safety'.

A force spokesman yesterday revealed that the police presence followed reports of a disturbance in the area.

Warrington Guardian:

But mystery surrounds the incident, with nothing being found when officers arrived.

The spokesman this morning confirmed: “Police were called to reports of a possible disturbance at Portland Road at around 4pm yesterday, Wednesday, November 9.

“Armed officers attended, as did the police helicopter.

“Officers completed a search of the area, but there was no evidence of any disturbance and no one was located in the area.”
