ROAD closures will be in place on Sunday as the town remembers its fallen war heroes.

Among various other events, the annual Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph on Bridge Foot will take place on Sunday.

The Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jean Flaherty will join war veterans, religious leaders, and members of the armed forces for Remembrance Sunday.

The parade will step off from Warrington Town Hall and make its way via Springfield Street, Palmyra Square South, Suez Street, Ryland Street, Bridge Street and onto the cenotaph at approximately 10.30am

At 10.59am the service will begin at the war memorial while ‘Last Post’ plays and the laying of the first wreath by the Mayor.

This will be followed by a national two-minute silence period, marked by a  bulger.

Immediately following the silence, the cenotaph service will commence led by Canon June Steventon.

The parade will then head to the Town Hall at around 11.25am.
