THE owners of a bar and kitchen in Newton-le-Willows is branching out with a new bar in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The new bar will takeover the former Market Kitchen site and will be an expansion to the award-winning restaurant on Newton High Street.

The new premises will be a prohibition-inspired speakeasy bar and will feature two levels, one below ground, with a bar on both and a VIP area for larger groups to reserve.

Hattie Ashton, general manager of Verona Kitchen and Balcony Bar, said: "The bar has been created to provide a premium option for locals and visitors to enjoy in the area with a strong focus on producing quality drinks with an emphasis on our cocktails.

"We aim to create a city-centre quality bar environment similar to that achieved at our pre-existing sites Verona Kitchen & Bar and The Balcony Late Lounge, and we have every confidence in the site given the existing and planned development of the town and the initial reception we have received.
