FLOWERS have been left in the town centre in tribute to Peter McLean - a 'true gentleman'.

Peter, who was a familiar face for many in Warrington, sadly died earlier this week.

It is believed that Peter, who had been homeless since he was 16, was living in supported accommodation at the time of his death.

Many people have paid tribute to Peter and shared their fond memories of him since the sad news was announced.

And one person left flowers and a card for him on the steps of the Holy Trinity Church on Market Gate - a place where Peter could often be found.

A note was also left which reads: "Sadly Peter passed away Tuesday/Wednesday night at home in a warm, cozy bed."
