THIS weekend is always the busiest time of the year for firefighters – and it certainly was for crews in Warrington.

Across both Friday and Saturday, fire crews across the town were called to various incidents.

These ranged from unattended bonfires to a sofa that had been set alight, and a fire in a disused building.

Here are just a few of the incidents that the teams were called out to over Bonfire Night weekend.

Friday, November 4

Firefighters from Lymm and Middlewich were called to reports of a large fire in a field on Old Mill Close in Lymm. After having some difficulty accessing the fire, they were able to deploy water jets. The fire was unattended, involved pallets and covered about 25 square metres. It was also close to hedgerows and trees.

9.31pm

Crews were called to an incident on Hood Lane, Great Sankey. One fire engine was deployed after reports from a member of the public who was concerned about a fire in the open. On arrival, firefighters found it was a controlled fire in a garden brazier. The occupier was given safety advice.
