A NEW health hub with rooftop garden is set to open in Warrington town centre.

As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, the former Council Contact Centre is being turned into a one-stop shop health hub.

It is one of the Government levelling up projects which has pumped money into the town.

Councillors will be asked at their development management committee meeting on Thursday to approve the work.

According to planning documents, the development, on Horsemarket Street, will include:

- Public services for drop in and regular daily functions such as internet use, group room, conversation pods/services, washing and cleaning functions for homeless, early medical assessment/intervention/advice, social function via café services;

- Interview, consultation and assessment rooms;

- Staff facilities including kitchen, group rooms and staff offices; and

- Roof top garden with community access.

In addition, the proposal also includes an increase in the second floor floor area by partially extending out on to the existing flat roof.

The hub would be open from 9am to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday.
