THE opening night of Super League’s 2023 season will be at The Halliwell Jones Stadium – and Warrington Wolves will face familiar Round One opponents.
It has been confirmed that The Wire will host 2022’s beaten Grand Finalists Leeds Rhinos in the first game of the new campaign on Thursday, February 16, kick off 8pm live on Sky Sports.
It will be the first time Warrington have started a season at home since 2019 – Leeds were also the opponents that night and a debut try for Blake Austin was the highlight of a 26-6 Wire victory.

The Rhinos have become very familiar opening-day foes for Warrington – February’s meeting will be the fifth time in seven seasons they have met in Round One having also done so in 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
This year’s Round One meeting at Headingley saw Connor Wrench score a late try to snatch a 22-20 victory for The Wire against a Leeds side that spent much of the game with 12 men following James Bentley’s early red card.
Indeed, their first two fixtures of 2023 have now been confirmed - Powell's side will travel to Huddersfield Giants in Round Two on Friday, February 24, kick off 8pm.
The Wire's full Super League fixture list will be revealed at 8.30am tomorrow.
