WORK to repair ‘dangerous’ paving in Stockton Heath has started.
It comes after councillors urged the borough council to take action over the state of the paving in Victoria Square.
Stockton Heath borough councillors and the chair of Stockton Heath Parish Council have been urging the borough council to look at the ‘dangerous state’ of the paving stones.
Ahead of work starting this week, Cllr Judith Wheeler said: “The stones are frequently lifting due to the tree roots and causing a major trip hazard.
“We have reported this in on and off for years but now the problem is a lot worse and despite telling the council over the past few months, nothing is happening. We are hearing of accidents from residents who have tripped.
“Ideally we would like to see a complete renovation of the Square which is a conservation area and the focal point of the village.”
