A WINWICK businesswoman is feeling ‘fantastique’ after scooping an award for her hugely popular French classes for children.
Seven years ago, Andrea Baker launched Les Petits Pois Fun French, teaching babies and children up to the age of eight a foreign language with classes full of original music, props and stories.
The successful 40-year-old’s business prospered during the Covid-19 pandemic and national lockdowns and Andrea was able to take on a franchisee last year.
Les Petits Pois Fun French was nominated for a What’s On 4 Kids Activities Award 2022, being shortlisted in the most loved academic or creative activity category.
The awards were held at Mercedes-Benz World on Thursday, October 20, and Andrea’s business was highly commended narrowly losing out to the overall winner Messy Play.
Andrea said: “When they announced that Les Petits Pois Fun French was highly commended, I was shocked.
“I’d always said that making the finals was a huge achievement and I was looking forward to sharing the evening with the very best in the children’s activity sector and what an evening it was!
“It’s been a tough few years and many businesses have closed as a result of the pandemic, so hearing the success stories of so many thriving and inspirational businesses was extremely uplifting.”
Two other Warrington businesswomen attended the awards - Sarah Lott from The Jungle on Pinners Brow was in the running for most loved venue and Little Movers’ Sarah Horton was nominated for most loved activity leader or business manager in the north of England as well as the most loved music, dance or performing arts activity.
Les Petits Pois Fun French is on at Westbrook Library each Monday and The Olive Tree in Penketh on Tuesdays.
Andrea is hoping to extend the business and move into other local areas following the success of the classes in Warrington and St Helens.
