A FLASHER has been locked up by the courts for exposing himself in public.

Kieron Elvan, who the court heard is also known as Kieron Owen, performed the shocking act at an unspecified location in Warrington, according to court documents.

The 29-year-old was subsequently charged with a sole count of exposure, and he appeared to be sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 10.

Here, he was told that the only appropriate sentence was one of immediate imprisonment.

Angela Blackmore, prosecuting, explained how the offence was committed on September 23 this year.

Elvan who appeared without legal representation, pleaded guilty to the particulars of the offence.

These state that he ‘intentionally exposed his genitals intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress’.

Before sentencing, magistrates remarked that they had taken his guilty plea into account.

However, they concluded that the offence was ‘so serious’ that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

This was due to the defendant having a ‘flagrant disregard’ for court orders and that fact that he has a previous conviction for a similar offence.

Elvan, of Winmarleigh Street in the town centre, was sentenced to six weeks in prison.

He must also abide by sex offender registration and notification requirements with the police for seven years.
