A MAIN route through Warrington town centre was closed on Wednesday evening.
Police rushed to the scene at Wilderspool Bridge, between Bridgefoot and Brian Bevan Island, at 9.15pm.
This was after officers received reports relating to concerns over the safety of a man on the bridge.
Cheshire Police confirmed that the man was taken to hospital for ‘further checks’.
A spokesman said: “At around 9.15pm on Wednesday, October 19, police were called to concerns for a man on Wilderspool Bridge.
“Officers attended and the man was taken to Whiston Hospital in an ambulance for further checks.”
