MAJOR planning developments look set to begin at Lymm Rugby Football Club, following the submission of a new planning application.

The original application was submitted in July 2016, and was granted permission by the planning committee in the summer of 2018 - subject to conditions.

However, the ground has not yet been broken on the project, more than six years on from the first application.

Now, a new application has been sent to the local planning authority called a 'discharge of conditions.'

If the council agrees to discharge the conditions, then work can finally begin on the major development in Lymm.

The conditions that needed to be met by the developers before work could begin on the club were to ensure a full plan was created to ensure the site would have adequate drainage.

The plans include a whole host of updates to Lymm Rugby Football Club, including the conversion of the current clubhouse into four new homes, as well as the construction of 10 new homes on the land.

A new clubhouse looks set to be constructed, complete with a caretaker's flat as well.

The new clubhouse will be a purpose-built, multi-sports facility, set to bring the site right up to date with some of the other sporting facilities that Warrington has to offer.

Another addition to the site included in the planning documents is four new tennis courts for the club in Lymm - the courts will also include a plastic dome for use during adverse weather.

A further development is also the installation of a new 3G playing pitch for the football club.

The site itself has had few updates since 2005 - a significant development being the introduction of grass sports pitches in 2009.

The application for the discharge of conditions was received by Warrington Borough Council this week and is currently under consideration by the planning committee.

If approved, work will begin on the planned major developments to Lymm Rugby Football Club in the immediate future.
