LOTS of you got in touch after we shared a picture of Warrington's former Wimpy bar.

The restaurant stood in a long disappeared building on Bridge Street in the 1960s.

The building was demolished in the 1970s to accommodate the move of the Academy as the new Bridge Foot was built.

Wimpy was later reopened further up Bridge Street, near to where Golden Square now stands.

Many readers have strong memories of the food, especially the brown derby which is still served in its 70 restaurants across the country.

Anne Richardson said: "I used to go in the Wimpy regularly in the 60s, there were some real characters that were always there. We always had a really good laugh and would sometimes go on to a pub, either the Cock and Trumpet at the back of the market or the Seven Stars on Bridge Street."

Paula Jay Fond added: "You felt very trendy eating there and it was was the venue for several teenage 'first dates'.

Jane Wellings said : "I remember my mum worked there when she was younger. She loved it."
