LOVE first blossomed in a youth club on the outskirts of Warrington back in 1960, for Pauline and Austin Dickinson.

And fast forward 60 years, they are celebrating another milestone wedding anniversary surrounded by all their loved ones.

Pauline and Austin said their vows at All Saints Church in Golbourne on October 20, 1962.

Austin had only recently finished his 18-months national service in Cyprus when they first met in their early 20s but after a few short years the couple married and travelled to Keswick for a 3-day romantic honeymoon by the lakes.

Shortly after, the pair moved to Warrington and bought a house in Grappenhall on Middlehurst Road where they lived for more than 50 years and raised a family together, before recently downsizing to a bungalow in the same area.

The couple celebrated with their ever-growing family on Sunday, October 16, by attending a mass at Saint John Henry Newman Church in Latchford and later enjoyed a meal at the Statham Lodge Hotel in Lymm.

Pauline and Austine will attend a mass at their local church on the day, which will be dedicated to their anniversary, followed by a delicious meal at their favourite pub, the Parr Arms.Warrington Guardian: Pauline and Austin Dickinson celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.Pauline and Austin Dickinson celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Pauline, 83, worked in several primary schools around the area including St Augustine's in Latchford and St Monica's in Appleton where she was deputy head teacher.

Her final years in education were spent at St Alban's before she retired in 2005.

Austin, 84, worked at the popular social club, Tetley Walkers doing a range of jobs before later becoming an engineer, ahead of his retirement in 1990 at the age of 52.

The pair have four children together; Steven, Andrew, Michael and Catherine, and their family has expanded since with them now having 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren – and three more on the way.

Grandchild number three, Hannah Edmondson described Pauline and Austin as ‘fantastic role models’ to her family.

“They really demonstrate the true meaning of love and marriage with their dedication to each other.

“We spent many summers having family parties and playing in their fantastic garden at Middlehurst Road,” Hannah said.

“Their great-grandchildren adore them, and Pauline has even still had some of her old school and reading books from her teaching days to read to them.

“They are active members of Saint John Henry Newman Church and play a huge role here where Pauline is the parish organist, and in the surrounding community - where they are still currently active members of the SVP and have been for a number of years.

“We are all so lucky to have them.”
