SHOPS in Warrington are being asked not to sell eggs and flour to children.
This is due to a recent rise in anti-social behaviour by youths, and police expect this to rise around the Halloween period.
So-called ‘mischief night’ is also approaching, with a spate of crimes being reported in Warrington on that night last year.
Cheshire Police says the tactic of stopping sales to children has worked in the past in both highlighting suspects and reducing instances of anti-social behaviour.
In an update, the force’s Burtonwood and Winwick Police team said: “We are noticing throughout Warrington an increase in anti-social behaviour.
“We have asked shops not to sell eggs and flour to children over coming weeks, so if you plan any baking, please do not be offended if kids cannot buy the bits needed.
“This has helped reduce ASB over past years and highlight offenders from shop CCTV.”
