DAN Bonner became Muay Thai boxing's UK number one when he scored a knockout win at the weekend.
The 31-year-old owner and coach of Warrington's Forge Fight Academy took the honour off Mateus Sarwuta after decking him with a right hook in the first round of the light heavyweight contest at the DW Stadium in Wigan.
Bonner, a former pupil of Padgate High School who lives at Latchford Locks, was fighting out of Wigan's Majestic Gym on their own show.
"It should hopefully lead to some world title opportunities," said Bonner, who is now waiting for some offers for his next outing.
He was pleased with his display, adding: "I was scoring really well on the backfoot before knocking him out early.
"Really happy with how it went as I've come out of it with zero damage and it was my first fight back since tearing my bicep."
