A LARGE group of travellers has moved onto land in Great Sankey after ‘breaking in’ to a former BMX track.
At around 8pm last night, Tuesday, police were called to reports of an unauthorised encampment at the site on Liverpool Road.
“Officers attended the scene and a large number of vehicles were found at the site,” said a Cheshire Police spokesperson.

One resident claimed the group had ‘broken into’ the former BMX track and that there were around 12 caravans and their associated vehicles.
Cheshire West and Chester’s site on current encampments says an officer is expected to confirm the location and land ownership.
This comes after an unauthorised traveller encampment moved onto land in Risley just last Thursday.
A number of caravans and their associated vehicles still remain on the Silver Lane site, just off the M62.
