A VILE drunk who spat in a police officer’s face has been jailed.
Stephen Jones, of Portland Road, Great Sankey, committed two offences on the same day.
The 48-year-old appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court for sentencing last week after pleading guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assault by beating of an emergency worker.
According to court documents, Jones committed the drunken offence on Santa Rose Boulevard on October 2 before he spat in a police officer’s face at Northern Custody in Runcorn on the same date.
Magistrates told the offender that the offences committed are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.
Jones was jailed for 12 weeks and must pay compensation of £275.
