A POWERFUL and important event is set to continue raising vital awareness in its 20th year.
The butterfly and chaplaincy teams at Warrington Hospital will be hosting a wave of light service of remembrance to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
This week, October 10 to 16, is national Baby Loss Awareness Week 2022.
The church service is the first to be held in two years due to the Covid pandemic, and it aims to bring bereaved parents, families, and friends together to commemorate babies’ lives and break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.
The wave of light service of remembrance will take place on Saturday, October 15, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm at St Elphin’s Church in Howley.
There is also an opportunity for those not attending the service to join the global ‘wave of light’ at 7pm, where everyone can light a candle and leave it burning for at least an hour and join in remembering all babies who died too soon.
Debbie Yates, bereavement support co-ordinator at Warrington Hospital, said: “We hope that the Wave of Light Service of Remembrance will bring the community together.
“We also hope it will provide a safe space for local bereaved parents and families touched by pregnancy and baby loss to talk about their precious babies and feel less isolated and supported in their grief.”
