AN academy in Padgate have received crucial funding from much-loved cereal brand, Kellogg’s, to help keep their children’s breakfast club afloat.

Kassia Academy and Support Services were awarded the £1,000 grant to ensure the important service of feeding children who need it before school can continue.

This comes after Kellogg’s recently announced they were going to up the quantity of grants they would hand out, due to the increase in school’s struggling to find funding for the service.

Lindsay Regan, Headteacher of Kassia Academy said: “We are so grateful to Kellogg’s to receive this generous donation. We have since been able to enhance our breakfast provision which supports the wellbeing of the pupils and supports the parents financially which all families need due to increase in the cost of living and the implications it has on family’s wellbeing.

‘’This resource will help us to continue to provide our breakfast club services for our children and their families thanks to the support from Kellogg’s.”

The academy located on Fallowfield Grove addressed the need for the grant, saying: “We are struggling to find the budget for breakfast club due to the increase in energy bills, food prices going up and schools not receiving any further funding.”

The Kellogg’s ‘support for school breakfast club’ has been going since 1998 and has helped run 4,000 school breakfast clubs with funds, food and training over the last 23 years – that’s 70 million bowls of cereal to children all over the UK.

Kate Prince, corporate social responsibility manager at Kellogg’s, said: “We’re proud to have spent over 20 years supporting so many schools across the UK. We believe all children should have the opportunity to start the day with breakfast, and we know that equipment and resources are just as important to clubs as the food itself.”
