WARRINGTON Market welcomed its newest eaterie this weekend, and it's already proving a hit with locals.
Steak and Sauce opened in the indoor market on Saturday and its owners say they've been overwhelmed with positive feedback.
The new stand serves - no prizes for guessing correctly - steak and sauces from around the world.
One of the speciality dishes is the 'steak sub' - described on the menu as: "A toasted brioche sub, fried onions, American cheese, crispy onions with garlic mayo and a pot of rich gravy for dipping served with seasoned crispy french fries."
The owners pride themselves on using 'premium sirloin' cuts of steak, and everything is prepared and cooked fresh every day.
Sauces include peppercorn, bearnaise, barbecue, gravy, and mushroom with truffle.
Fries can be customised with a choice of seasoning, which includes salt and pepper, Jamaican jerk, smoked barbecue, and garlic, parsley and sea salt.
I'll hold my hands up and say this - I wouldn't normally go to a restaurant and order a steak - because they're so 'hit and miss' - so I was a bit unsure of what to expect from Steak and Sauce when I paid them a visit.
My worries evaporated instantly.
The staff and owners are clearly passionate about what they do and they strike a balance between quality food and fast service.
I can confidently say this was the best steak I've ever eaten.
The fries were seasoned with the garlic, parsley and sea salt combination and they were brilliant.
In terms of the steak sub, it was completely rammed with ingredients - you won't leave this place feeling shortchanged if you order the sub.
For the sub, with fries and a dip, it costs £14 - for the quality and quantity of food that you receive, you'd probably be paying £20 or more in a restaurant.
Next time you're in Warrington Market, give Steak and Sauce a go, and chat with the staff while you're at it, they're incredibly friendly.
