CHRISTMAS is coming to Warrington town centre – kickstarted by a whole weekend of festive events, including artisan markets.
The festive season is launching in the town with special celebrations taking place from Saturday, November 26, to Sunday, November 27.
These will feature various activities and events such as choir performances, fairground rides, light projections, the return of At No.25 Christmas installation and even a team of Brazilian drummers who will lead the Lantern Parade.
Independent Street will also champion local independent businesses by bringing the Artisan Market across the central streets of Warrington.
Sankey Street, Horsemarket Street, Buttermarket Street and Bridge Street will be filled with a festive array of 60 carefully-selected artisan stalls.
Everyone is invited and most activities are free – including a lantern-making workshop followed by a lantern parade.
With lanterns lit and held aloft, the parade will march across to the town hall on Saturday, November 26, where the town hall will be illuminated in an ‘unmissable’ light projection.
The festive fun is being brought to you by by Warrington Business Improvement District (BID) and partners, Golden Square, Warrington Market, Culture Warrington, the Warrington Lions and Independent Street.
And the Christmas celebrations will start on Saturday, November 26, from 10am to 7pm and will recommence on Sunday, November 27, between 11am and 5pm.
Leah Biddle, cultural manager at from Culture Warrington, said: “We’ve been busy planning a festive treat for Warrington’s communities this Christmas with three amazing cultural programmes in partnership with the BID.
“I’m delighted to welcome back our Christmas space At No.25 in Golden Square which will be open daily throughout the festive period, this year with additional workshops and performances.
“Over the next few weeks, we will be out and about in the community leading lantern-making workshops to encourage families to join our lantern parade in the town Centre which will build the momentum for a magical Christmas projection on the Town Hall.
“It’s been another challenging year for us all so I hope these events will spread some festive cheer.”
Lisa Cowley from Independent Street added: “We are so excited to be once again working with Andrea Morley at Warrington BID to collaborate on The Christmas in Warrington weekend.
“An event like this is a great way to showcase local talent whilst also being a fantastic family day out, discovering the unique selection of foods and crafts on offer.
“Experience the festive entertainment in town and buy that unique Christmas gift whilst supporting our small independent businesses.
“Our event will be packed full of entertainment, live music and fun for the whole family... See you there!”
