A NURSERY in Orford that was rated 'Good' at its last Ofsted inspection has closed down with immediate effect.

The Lakes Centre Nursery, on Sandy Lane, announced its closure to parents on Monday, October 3.

In the email announcement, the nursery cited an 'enormous increase in costs' as the reason for the closure.

One parent got in touch with the Warrington Guardian, and said that they had not received prior notice, and were left with 'a day's notice to find alternative childcare.'

The email sent by The Lakes Centre Nursery reads: "Dear parents,

"I'm very sad to say that as of today [October 3] The Lakes Centre Ltd. (Nursery) will be closing permanently.

"With the enormous increase in costs, we are not able to continue to run the nursery any longer.

"There are spaces at most local nurseries, and we hope you will be able to find a suitable alternative quickly."

The parent who got in touch said that the nursery had given no prior notice before it announced the closure on Monday night - taking effect from the morning of Tuesday, October 4.

At its last Ofsted inspection, the inspectors said: "Children are at the heart of everything this nursery does.

"Children are developing a genuine respect for others and are building great friendships."

The Lakes Centre nursery was registered in 2004 and had been operating for nearly 20 years before its abrupt closure.
