EVERYONE is feeling the squeeze at the moment - fuel prices are still high, energy costs are rising, and we're all refusing to put the heating on.
So it comes as no surprise that more of us are heading down to car boot sales to grab some bargains, or to even sell some of our unwanted items.
I headed down to Warrington's largest car boot sale to see what I could find for £20.
From the off, I'll be honest: this was one of the hardest tasks I've faced in my career as a reporter.
Car boot sales are strange places - you could leave with a shedload of items and only have spent a fiver.
Or you could leave with one thing you've spent £50 on, and wonder why you're having to remortgage your house to fund your shopping habit.
I spent an hour at Warrington's largest car boot sale, on Newton Road, Winwick, and was tasked with finding out not just how much I could buy, but to find things worth buying, too.
As soon as I entered the sale, I was greeted on my left with a wide array of what I think were plastic phalluses.
Before swiftly moving to the next stall, I found myself praying that they were not second-hand.
My biggest spend of the day was on a grey Ralph Lauren jumper - online, they can be found second-hand for around £35.
I bought this one for a fiver.
In my haul was also the complete Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as The Hobbit - the four-book collection retails at £25, but I bagged it for £5.
Other items I snagged included a poker set (based on Batman's nemesis, The Joker) and three original vinyl singles - from Jason Donovan, Lionel Ritchie, and the Bee Gees, each priced at a reasonable 50p.
I bagged a quiz book, too, for 50p that retails at £8, so that was a bonus.
Car boot sales are often treasure troves, and you can find real pieces of history there too, if you know where to look.
With that in mind, I found four programmes from rugby matches that took place between the 1960s and 1980s - featuring teams from Warrington, St Helens, and Widnes.
Each programme set me back the hefty sum of one English pound.
And with the final pound to round off my spending spree at Warrington's car boot, I picked up a yoga mat for a quid.
Do I practice yoga? No.
Will I practice yoga? Probably not.
But with my newly-purchased £1 yoga mat, can I practice yoga? Yes.
Totting everything up with the next-best prices online, the items I left the car boot sale with are valued somewhere between £90-£120.
I'd call that a morning (and £20) well spent.
'Warrington's Favourite Carboot Sale' is open from 7am-12pm on a Wednesday, and from 5:30am-1pm on a Sunday.
It can be found on Newton Road, Winwick.
