I'M impressed with the amount of success that Warrington teams have been enjoying locally, regionally and nationally already this year.
Just in this week's paper alone, we bring you news of cup final appearances, league title wins, promotion achievements and reaching the final stages of national competitions in a variety of sports.
It highlights what many of us already know in this town - Warrington is crammed with sporting talent.
Lymm Hockey Club's success may have passed some people by but it does stand out.
All four teams at the club, two men's teams and two women's teams, have gained promotion this season and that is some achievement at whatever level of sport you consider.
The club's chiefs have obviously got the formula right on the pitch and it is good to see that they now intend to focus on developing teams at junior level, which is important for the club to maintain its success for years to come at their Lymm Rugby Club base.
Hockey has been a little too low key in the town for far too long and, with Warrington Hockey Club also building in strength again, perhaps we will soon be hearing more and more about local achievements in the sport.
And Lymm have come a long way in just a few years of taking the amateur scene seriously, as have Bank Quay Bulls amateur rugby league team.
Bulls started out on the bottom rung of the North West Counties Amateur Rugby League ladder.
But they have been determined, ambitious and adventurous and can all but complete a stunning Premier Division title success on Saturday at Longshaw Street playing fields in Dallam.
A win against Pilkingtons will leave the St Helens side as the only team who can prevent Bulls from celebrating their 10th anniversary with their first Premiership, and even Pilks will be five points behind with just three games left to play.
Bulls' clash with Pilkingtons is just one element of an intriguing Easter programme of sport, locally, and with the dawn of the spring sunshine (hopefully) it's always a good time of the year to get out and about and watch a game or two.
Warrington Wolves kick off the holiday period with their clash against Huddersfield Giants at The Halliwell Jones Stadium tomorrow, Friday.
They will be looking to get back on track after a defeat at one of Super League's most decorated clubs, Bradford Bulls, at the weekend.
Wolves have now lost twice this season, with the first defeat being at last year's Grand Final runners up St Helens.
Not so long ago, a season that started with four wins as well as losses at Saints and Bradford would have been acceptable to most Wolves supporters.
Not any more. Expectation is so high now with Wolves having so much world-class talent in their ranks.
Wolves were in the running at both St Helens and Bradford and could easily be sitting top of the table with six wins from six if they had performed a little smarter.
Hopefully, they will get their performance together and pick up maximum points against the Giants and then Castleford Tigers on Easter Monday.
