MEET then man tasked with overseeing operations at one of Warrington’s largest employers.
James Pitt has recently been appointed as the new site leader at Amazon’s Warrington fulfilment centre, based at Omega since 2017.
Originally from Coventry and now living in Warrington, James graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in economics.
During his time at university, he started creating video content on YouTube with his friend, which quickly turned into a business.
James’ content on YouTube attracted 100million views, and at that point he wrapped his career in content and took a role as a management consultant in a financial services firm in London.
After realising that management consulting was not exciting him, James returned to his passion of producing content and joined a video games company as a broadcast manager.
After a year working as a broadcast manager, James joined the Amazon fulfilment centre in Rugeley, Staffordshire, in 2015 as a graduate area manager.
His initial attraction to Amazon’s leadership opportunities saw him move to sites in Manchester and Coventry, before taking up the role in Warrington.
“When I learned more about the opportunities to lead teams at Amazon, I wanted to apply for a position with the company,” he said.
“There are lots of great things about working at Amazon, but the three that stand out for me are the culture of strong leadership, the diversity of the team and the opportunities to develop.
“Opportunities here are limitless, and I have never seen a company like Amazon, where you can join as a temporary worker and end up running buildings or networks as a senior leader.
“You really can achieve anything you want to here, and I think that is fantastic.
Following his arrival in Warrington, James has explained his vision for the site and what he wants to achieve.
“I want to continue prioritising a culture of safety, which is number one at Amazon and is engrained into everything we do,” he added.
“I also want to continue the great work of our affinity groups through celebrations and events like Armed Forces Day and Pride.
“Our team here is really active in the Warrington community, making donations, volunteering and taking part in sponsored walks, runs and more.
“I think it is so important, and I am looking forward to building on our great community support programme in my new role.”
