A NUMBER of shocking and disturbing crimes were reported on by the Warrington Guardian during the month of August.
We take a look back at some of these frightening incidents reported to police in the town over the past few weeks.
Here are eight such incidents reported on in Warrington during August:
Former Appleton student in Bali drug probe
A FORMER Bridgewater High School pupil is believed to be among three arrested for drug distribution in Bali.
Authorities in Indonesia arrested the trio of foreigners for distributing cocaine on the resort island.
Officers from the National Narcotics Agency seized 844.6 grams of cocaine, along with other drugs including MDMA and cannabis, from the three suspects.
The trio, including a man who is thought to be from Appleton, were paraded by the authorities with hoods over their heads.
Dangerous driving charge as girl injured
POLICE charged a man with dangerous driving following a four-car crash in Orford.
A large police presence was reported on and in the vicinity of O’Leary Street late on Saturday, August 13.
A young girl aged seven was taken to hospital following the collision for further checks, although her injuries are not life-threatening.
Officers arrested a 26-year-old man at the scene, and he has since been charged with dangerous driving.
Police complaint made after fixtures ripped out
A REPORT has been made to police regarding the removal of fixtures at two units in Time Square.
It comes after fittings were ripped out in both the Gravity and Newton’s premises, located within the town centre leisure complex.
Photos taken of the Gravity unit on August 8 showed the removal of the trampoline park and ‘Ninja Run’ obstacle course fixtures.
The same can be said of Newton’s, with bar fittings, tables and booth seating also absent.
Gang of young thugs attack man
A MAN was viciously assaulted as he lay on the ground by being kicked and punched to the face.
The shocking attack occurred on Friday, August 5, at around 4.50pm while the victim was walking down a path in Sankey Valley Park, near to Old Alder Lane.
The 53-year-old was stopped by four young men, three of which were on bikes and one was on a scooter, who were initially verbally abusive towards him.
They then proceeded to punch him to the face and head, and continued to do so, along with kicks, as he fell to the floor.
Suspected drink driver with child charged
POLICE charged a woman who was allegedly caught drinking driving on the M6 – with a child in the car.
The 43-year-old was reportedly stopped at 11am on Saturday, August 27, in a silver BMW Series 1 on the M6.
When stopped by officers, police say she was breathalysed and found to have blown 164 – which is four times over the legal limit of 35.
A child was also found to be in the vehicle at the time.
CCTV appeal after random hammer attack
A MAN was attacked by an unknown offender wielding a hammer in the centre of Lymm.
At around midnight on Sunday, July 24, the victim was stood outside a licensed premises at the junction of Rectory Lane and Pepper Street.
An unknown man then approached him and attempted to strike him over the head with a hammer, although luckily, the victim only sustained minor cuts as a result of the incident.
Officers investigating the assault issued a CCTV image in August of a man they would like to speak to in relation to the incident.
Dozens of drug arrests at Creamfields
THIS year’s Creamfields music festival policing operation in Daresbury saw 39 arrests made for numerous offences.
In addition, 71 people were spoken to by police in relation to possession of illegal drugs and ejected from the site. They will be dealt with through criminal justice processes at a later stage.
A further 42 people were dealt with via local resolution – these people were not arrested but have been recorded as being involved in drugs.
Sadly, a 25-year-old woman fell ill at the festival and died.
Yobs damage cars on dealership forecourt
SHAMELESS yobs were caught on camera smashing windows and jumping on a car at a dealership in Warrington, causing £4,000 worth of damage.
The owner of Davies Car Sales on Padgate Lane says he is ‘infuriated and disgusted’ by the actions of the teenagers.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, August 27, in broad daylight at around 5.30pm.
CCTV at the dealership shows three individuals, believed to be between 15 and 17 years old and wearing dark hoodies and face coverings, hurling bricks at cars on the forecourt.
