THE controversial proposed closure of Woolston High School will be debated once again by councillors this afternoon.
An additional meeting of the executive board, which usually meets once a month, has been called for 4.30pm specifically to talk about the issue one last time.
Earlier this year members unanimously voted in favour of closing the high school in August 2012.
But opposition Labour councillors have challenged that decision and questioned how the council came to the conclusion that it was a 'failing school' and warranted being closed.
A meeting on Wednesday night of the council's own watchdog, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, found however that information on which the decision has been based is sound.
Even if the executive board sticks to its decision after this afternoon's meeting, campaigners have vowed to keep fighting to save Woolston from closing.
