WARRINGTON Wolves director of commercial development Dave Hutchinson believes the town again demonstrated a hunger for football at Liverpool's reserve match against Manchester United this week.

A total of 10,546 fans watched the Barclays Premier Reserve League (North) clash, which may even surpass the attendance for Wolves' rugby league home match against Catalans Dragons this Sunday.

But Hutchinson, understandably pleased by Tuesday's attendance, hopes some of those football fans will be tempted to experience their first taste of rugby league action on Sunday.

Liverpool reserve boss Gary Ablett is also planning to attend a Wolves match at some point this season.

"We're absolutely delighted," Hutchinson said about the reserve crowd.

"I'd like to thank everyone who turned up on Tuesday from Warrington, Liverpool and Manchester. Hopefully they enjoyed an entertaining night.

"It's great for football in the town. We've always said we're a community stadium and we're trying to offer for everyone in the community, not just rugby but football as well.

"If people enjoyed it on Tuesday and have never been to the rugby, I'd urge them to come on Sunday against the Catalans and experience the same atmosphere with a different shaped ball.

"We've shown what the public of Warrington can do when they put their minds to it so let's hope they can get behind the lads on Sunday as well.

"If you go back a few years reserve teams used to get high attendances but it's drifted a bit.

"What we've demonstrated at Warrington is a hunger for a decent level of football in the town and we've attracted some good crowds on the back of it.

"I don't know how much money we will make from Tuesday at the moment but what we've tried to do all along is make it affordable.

"The point is, if we can attract that many fans and a lot of them haven't been to the rugby before, give the other game a try as well.

"Even Gary Ablett is going to come down to a game."
