SPOIL you Mum but not the environment tomorrow is the message from a campaign by Recycle Now.
Residents who showered their mums with flowers and a special dinner on Mother's Day are being reminded that the organic waste could make ingredients for a compost bin and for gardens too.
BBC TV and radio presenter, Philippa Forrester is backing the campaign to get the people of Warrington to compost at home.
Philippa, said: "My three sons love to spoil me with flowers and gifts, but I make sure we compost all the wrappers, cards and flowers once Mother's Day is over."
Fruit and vegetable peelings from dinner; tea bags from her breakfast in bed and boxes from her chocolates can all be recycled. Once flowers have been enjoyed they too can been put in a compost bin.
Providing green and brown elements for the compost bin provides essential air pockets to help speed up the decomposition process.
This March, Recycle Now is teaming up with Warrington Borough Council to offer residents reduced price compost bins. Contact 0845 077 0757 for more details.
