NEW to Warrington South policing unit, Insp Sarah Edgar introduced herself at Stockton Heath's February Parish Council meeting.

She moved to the Grappenhall Road police station in January, and spoke of her plans for the coming months.

She said: "I do have some ideas on how I want to get involved right across the board but I am getting to know my team and what they are doing."

Answering questions from councillors and members of the public, Insp Edgar and PCSO Peter Crellin spoke about their continued efforts to fight crime.

Insp Edgar said: "We can't be there (in affected areas) all the time but if we are getting the reports in we get them on the radio and we will do our utmost to get there."

Making notes throughout the question time, she informed residents that their issues would be addressed.

Publicly informing all present at the meeting about criminal activity in the area, PCSO Crellin spoke of the police community support officers' crack down on more than 20 untaxed vehicles, foreign vehicles that have out-stayed their permitted time in the UK and the conviction of a drink driver.

Monitoring speeding drivers in south Warrington, he said: "On Walton Road, in six and three quarter hours, five vehicles were caught speeding and in two and a half hours, 39 vehicles were caught on Fairfield Road."

Ten incidents of alcohol seizure were reported, with one youth being arrested after attempting to assault PCSO Crellin.
